Sponsorship initiative 1. "Right 2 Smile" (R2S) (Malta)
The funds donated by VME through the "VME Coop Sponsorship initiative" will be dedicated to two services of "Right 2 Smile's" (RGS) youth-focused initiatives.
R2S'S 1-2-1 PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
Firstly, VME's support will enable "Right 2 Smile" (R2S) to provide free one-on-one psychosocial services to the youths participating in their two youth groups. These personalized sessions will serve as a vital means of guidance and support for young individuals who may be navigating various challenges in their lives.
R2S'S YOUTH SELF-DEVELOPMENT GROUPS
Secondly, VME's contribution will facilitate the execution of group sessions focused on self-development for youths. These interactive sessions aim to empower RGS's young participants with essential life skills, fostering their personal growth and self-confidence.
Who are Right 2 Smile (R2S) Malta?
"Right 2 Smile" (R2S), a Maltese NGO (VO/0583), that blends responsible volunteering and community development initiatives worldwide. The journey commenced in 2012 in Kenya, where groups of volunteers launched impactful projects in Kenya. Collaborating closely with local communities, a community-based project focusing on formal and non-formal education was
initiated and replicated this successful model in India, Cambodia, and Ghana. The overarching goal of these endeavors is to equip locals with skills, confidence, and resources, fostering self-sufficiency for the present and future generations within these communities. As volunteers returned from these transformative experiences abroad, they were inspired to carry forth the spirit of altruism and offered their support to volunteer further with R2S to establish local projects. An opportune moment arose through discussions with LEAP (now ACTS), leading to an engagement with a group of young individuals in the St. Lucija area.
R2S youth clubs embraced an inclusive ethos, welcoming anyone within the age range who could access the club location.
In essence, "Right 2 Smile" embodies a transformative movement that merges responsible global volunteering with local community building. From international projects fostering self-sustainability to local youth clubs grounded in empathy and inclusion, R2S remains dedicated to empowering individuals, creating meaningful connections, and facilitating personal growth – all with a shared commitment to be there every step of the way.
Youth Group Therapy Services
Right 2 Smile is dedicated to nurturing the mental and emotional well-being of young individuals, and in 2019, they launched the ‘Youth Group Therapy Services.’ This service was born out of a deep understanding of the multifaceted challenges faced by today's youth – challenges that extend beyond the boundaries of a traditional youth group setting. As concerns of both a social and mental health nature came to the forefront, it became evident that a more specialized and secure space for the youth attending their services was needed to address these profound issues. The core mission of this service is: to provide vulnerable young people and their families with free, personalized one-on-one psychotherapy sessions. R2S's aim is to create a safe space where these individuals can embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Through the one to-one session and group sessions, their dedicated team of therapists have guided these individuals through a process of inner exploration, fostering increased self-awareness, building self-esteem, and promoting positive body image. Moreover, the R2S team address intricate challenges such as navigating relationships, processing childhood traumas, and cultivating a strong foundation for emotional well-being.
